Seven Day Hunt
Guided Bear Hunt - Come hunt one of Minnesota's most magnificent mammals in the wilderness. With combined hunting and guiding experience of 20+ years you are guaranteed to enjoy your adventure. Whether you choose to hunt with a bow, rifle, black powder or pistol I will accommodate you. I will also accommodate anyone who is handicap. I have a wide spread of active baits in zones 45 and 46.
The hunt includes:
- Transportation to and from bait
- Tracking
- Retrieval of bear
- Option of ladder stand or ground blind
- Skinning and quartering
- Hide preparation
Spear House Rentals $100/Day+
Spear House Rentals
Come enjoy one of Minnesota's greatest sport fishing adventures in the heart of the lakes area. Houses are 4'x6' heated with a 2'x4' hole to observe northern pike and several other species through the ice. Upon arrival the heat will be on, the hole will be cleaned and ready for you to spear and angle. The house rental includes 2 decoy lines, skimmer, chair, and measuring tape. You are responsible for license, spear, fake or live decoys, and bucket for the fish you keep.
Rentals come with:
- 4'x6' Houses with heat
- 2'x4' Hole - kept open
- 2 Decoy lines
- spears and fake decoy rentals for an extra $25/day

Tom Lukanen, owner and operator of Tom’s Guide Service provides top quality bear hunting and spearfishing in the Backus area. I have lived here for over 40 years and have been hunting and fishing in the area since my early teens. Along with my wife, I raised three boys and passed on the same passion for the outdoors. When I’m not guiding you can find me bow hunting for bears, deer, or turkeys. In the off season, I am out on the water in the boat or looking down the ice hole waiting for the monster northern pike.
